City of Lincoln Ballot Questions

Vote FOR Charter Amendments THREE and FIVE, and vote AGAINST Charter Amendments TWO, FOUR, and SIX.

Here’s why:

Amendment SIX would allow non-residents who live outside city limits and who do not pay city property taxes to vote in our local elections. Amendments TWO and FOUR would create back-to-back city elections in 2027 and 2028 to dramatically shorten the next mayoral term and the terms of City Council members.

Lincoln voters deserve better than this.

That’s why the City Council put responsible alternatives on the ballot.

CITY ALTERNATIVE Amendment THREE transitions Lincoln to even-year elections, but allows people elected in 2027 to serve until 2030 – almost their full four-year term.

CITY ALTERNATIVE Amendment FIVE creates term limits for the City Council, but they match the 3-term term limits for the mayor to maintain consistency in local government practices.

Lincoln Ballot Question ONE: NEUTRAL

N4VB, a Nebraska nonprofit corporation, and the City of Lincoln, Nebraska, propose to establish a volleyball sports complex economic development project by appropriating annually from state assistance received by the City pursuant to the Sports Arena Facility Financing Assistance Act for the purpose of funding a volleyball sports complex to be owned by N4VB, and related infrastructure improvements, which may include financing of the privately owned sports complex through the issuance of revenue bonds to be repaid from such state assistance.

Statewide Ballot Measures

LR19CA: Vote FOR the constitutional amendment to increase the term limit for state legislators from two consecutive four-year terms (8 years) to three consecutive four-year terms (12 years).

442: Vote AGAINST initiative 442. This would change Nebraska’s Constitution to limit girls’ participation in sports for all public schools, including publicly funded colleges and universities, and private school teams that compete against public school teams. It pretends to be about “fairness,” but it’s not.
