Lincoln council puts mayoral term limits amendment on ballot as required by state constitution

After the public hearing, “Christensen offered a new title for the ballot issue that said ‘Mayoral term limits that will disqualify the incumbent mayor from serving another term and prevent future mayors from serving more than three consecutive terms.”

“Councilwoman Leirion Gaylor Baird, a Democrat, said the title was ‘a mouthful’ but ‘definitely more transparent about the intention’ of the amendment. It provides greater clarity on what the amendment would do, she said.”
