Lancaster County Democratic Party to Hold Convention by Phone

The Lancaster County Democratic Party will hold its convention on Saturday, May 30, 4:30-6:30 p.m. via phone to elect officers and delegates to the Nebraska Democratic Party state convention.

County and state conventions will be conducted via phone this year due to the coronavirus. Registered Democrats are encouraged to participate in their county convention and run for a delegate position to the state and national conventions. Democrats must register to attend the county convention or submit your candidacy for a county or state party leadership position by 5 p.m. on May 1, 2020.

“We had to make adjustments, but everyone pitched in to make this happen,” said Janet Chung, LCDP Chair. “Our volunteers and candidates are calling voters from home to talk to voters and discuss voting by mail for the May 12 primary election.”

NDP Chair Jane Kleeb said “County parties are the foundation for us to keep building the state party and winning elections. While we will miss seeing everyone at the local conventions this year, we encourage Democrats to register for their county convention to have a voice in local and state leadership. Your local county chair volunteers year-round to build a party for ‘We the people’ and we are proud to stand with them.”
